The new trend report from Deloitte is here!

We all know that most car buyers initiate their search for a new or used car online, but a majority still hesitate to conduct the entire journey via a virtual process. Why?

According to Deloitte’s new study the most common reason is that they want to see the vehicle before they buy it (and God knows that most used car ads are pretty bland and gloomy).

This is mentioned by 70–80% of the consumers in all countries except China (only 47%).

It also explains why so many car dealers would prefer to present the cars with an attractive video, showing all the attractive details and features. But that’s another story.

The report lists a number of other reasons, more or less universal, but there are some geographical differences. The consumers feeling least comfortable buying online are somewhat surprisingly the ones in Japan. And, in India, more than 40% say that they want to «build a relationship for service», compared to 16% in the US and 23% in Germany.

The 12th annual report from Deloitte also summarizes a number of current trends, more or less related to the ongoing digital transformation of the vehicle industry.

  • Which tech trends will have the most impact?
  • What do 24,000 consumers from 23 countries think about electrification?
  • What are their intentions regarding future car ownership?
  • What type of vehicles will they acquire next?
  • Why do consumers in different countries have different views on virtual alternatives?
  • How should all this affect business strategies and investments?
